Hyundai Mobis has announced it will begin testing its self-driving vehicle in Michigan later this month. The company obtained approval to carry out test driving its autonomous car model “M.Billy” from the local government in 2016.
Hyundai has stated it will test M.Billy for level 3 and level 4 autonomous driving system development. Level 3 is conditional automation, which requires driver involvement in certain circumstances, while level 4 means high automation without driver intervention.
The company also plans to carry out the same motorway test for M.Billy in South Korea and Germany, in May and June, respectively. Their aim is to mass-produce a semi-autonomous car by the year 2022.
